What happened this week
On October 21, PHP, the language every WordPress site runs on, released an emergency fix for two critical flaws, nicknamed “PHP2Shell” and rated 9.2 out of 10, that can let attackers run code on a website's server without logging in. Updating WordPress or its plugins doesn't fix it: the server's PHP has to be patched, usually by your host, and PHP 8.1 and older are past end-of-life, with only limited fixes. It follows a critical flaw in WordPress itself in July. Captive Studio sites don't run PHP, so there's nothing to patch.

Will my new site look exactly the same?+
Yes. It's a pixel-perfect rebuild of your current design, not a template that looks roughly similar. Every page goes through multiple rounds of visual QA, compared side by side with your live site at desktop, laptop, tablet and phone sizes, before we send your invite. Want changes later? Make them yourself in the AI chat.
Will I lose my Google rankings?+
The migration keeps every URL identical and copies each page's title tag, meta description, canonical, schema and Open Graph tags. Search engines see the same pages at the same addresses, just faster. As with any platform change, we recommend watching Search Console for a few weeks after go-live; we'll help you with that.
Will Google Analytics, Tag Manager and my pixels keep working?+
Yes. The tool finds every script, tag and pixel on your current site and carries them over, so your analytics, ad conversions and call tracking keep reporting. You'll see them listed in Studio's code settings, and they're on your QA checklist before go-live.
What do I actually have to do?+
Submit your URL. When your site is ready, accept the invite, look it over, and start your trial. To go live, add a couple of DNS records at your domain provider (we show you exactly which) or ask us to do it with you.
What happens to my current WordPress site?+
Nothing. We read your public site; we never log in or change anything. It keeps running until you point your domain at the new build, and you can keep it as a fallback for as long as you like.
Will changing DNS affect my email?+
No. Going live only changes the records that point your website at Vercel. Your email (MX) records are left alone.
What about my plugins: forms, sliders, booking tools?+
The features your visitors use are rebuilt into the site itself: forms, galleries, sliders, maps, embeds. Third-party tools like booking widgets and chat come across as embeds. If something needs custom work, our team flags it during the rebuild and tells you before you start your trial.
I have a WooCommerce store. Does that come too?+
Studio has its own store built in, with payments to your own Stripe account. Tell us about your store on the form and we'll scope the catalog move with you before anything is switched over.
